Deepen your relationship with clay in this class with Melissa Mead, where you will focus on developing fundamental pinch and slab techniques. Melissa will guide you through the use of templates as a foundation to create your own unique ideas for both functional and sculptural clay forms.

Earthy tones and textures will be explored and used to enhance the clay pieces. Each participant has an allocation of 4kg of clay to experiment and play with over the length of the course.

The Corban Estate Arts Centre is located in Henderson, West Auckland.

We’re home to artist studios, our very own cafe, art classes for adults, youth and children, and an ever-changing programme of exhibitions and events.

Set within park-like grounds amongst historic winery buildings. Open Monday to Saturday, entry is free, everybody’s welcome.

The clay workshop with Melissa has been really great. I had no prior experience and wanted some kind of a creative outlet on weekends after spending 5days a week in an office. The classes were easy to follow and Melissa is so kind and helpful. I’m glad I decided to try something new :)

I really enjoyed this course. It is fun. We got to make several items during the course and learnt a variety of techniques. Melissa is a great teacher and has been very helpful throughout the course. I would definitely recommend this course for anyone interested in making things with clay.

  • A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking.
  • Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
  • Cancellation by participant up until 7 days before the workshop commences results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant within 7 days of the workshop commencement date results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 30% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given.

  • A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking. Part Payment options are available at time of booking.
  • Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
  • Cancellation by participant up until 10 days before the workshop commences results in a full refund of amount paid MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant within 10 days or on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given. You may nominate someone else to take your place before the class starts.
