Learn about the practices associated with Maori arts whilst creating a Toki Taonga in this all day workshop. Using, grinders, drills, wet and dry sanding, and polishing tools participants will design and carve their own pendant. Traditional Polynesian binding and lashing techniques will complete the pendant ready to wear. 

Please wear closed toe shoes and your own cup for hot beverages : )

The Corban Estate Arts Centre is located in Henderson, West Auckland.

We’re home to artist studios, our very own cafe, art classes for adults, youth and children, and an ever-changing programme of exhibitions and events.

Set within park-like grounds amongst historic winery buildings. Open Monday to Saturday, entry is free, everybody’s welcome.

great class. gentle introduction into the history of Pounamu and a nice concise day that let us walk away with a finished piece and a sense of fulfilment.

I can't recommend this workshop enough. It was very hands on and a once in a lifetime experience. I never imaged being able to create a beautiful pounamu taonga that I could gift to someone special. Maha, Laura & Destiny were very friendly, approachable, helpful, and comedic!

Learning the entire process of creating pounamu taonga was amazing. Very meditative work, in a relaxed environment. Really easy-going, knowledgeable, supportive teachers, too. Came away at the end of the day with taonga ātaahua.

ADULTS, YOUTH AND CHILDREN’S CLASSES/WORKSHOPS ENROLMENT POLICY

  • A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking.
  • Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
  • Cancellation by participant up until 7 days before the workshop commences results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant within 7 days of the workshop commencement date results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 30% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given.

  • A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking. Part Payment options are available at time of booking.
  • Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
  • Cancellation by participant up until 10 days before the workshop commences results in a full refund of amount paid MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant within 10 days or on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given. You may nominate someone else to take your place before the class starts.
