In one of our brand new workshops, Faith McManus will be leading participants through the process of cutting and printing a multi-woodblock print using both press and hand-printing techniques. In an exploration of colour, pattern, texture and space, Faith will use her expertise to guide you through the process of layering and combining techniques to push the possibilities of woodblock printing. Faith will be concentrating on water-based ink and this workshop is suitable for those who cannot work with oil-based ink or solvent.

About Faith McManus:
Faith McManus (Ngāpuhi, Ngai Takoto) is an expert in the print process, predominantly working with woodcut, paper and painterly applications of ink to explore stories, pattern and colour. She plays with the conventions of woodcut, sign and ornamentation to construct new interrelationships. Her practice investigates ideas about genealogy, cultural memory and personal narrative and the interconnectedness of ancestry, mythology and culture.
Faith holds a Diploma of Fine Arts (Honours) from Otago Polytechnic, a Master of Fine Arts from RMIT University, Melbourne, and a Diploma of Teaching from the Dunedin College of Education. Faith has exhibited widely in Aotearoa and internationally in Australia, The United States and Japan. She is a founding member of the Māori Printmaking Collective and is regularly involved in cultural art exchanges and artist residencies. Faith joins us this summer from Whangārei where she is a lecturer in drawing, printmaking, Intermedia, Pacific Studies and Art History at NorthTec.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Enrolments will be confirmed and a materials list provided upon deposit made. If you withdraw from a class on or before 7 January 2022 your course fee will be refunded less a $50 administration fee. If you withdraw from a class on or after 8 January 2022 you will receive a 50% refund of your course fee. No refund will be given after a course has started or if you decide to leave early. You will be advised by 5 January 2022 of course cancellation and a full refund will be made.

- Alongside the workshops, Summer School students are invited to take part in the following activities; MONDAY 17 JANUARY: 9 –10am Meet and Greet Students and Tutors: All Summer Schools participants are encouraged to attend this event to meet the tutors and fellow Summer School participants. Light refreshments provided. WEDNESDAY 19 JANUARY: 4.30pm – 6pm Artist Studio Visits: CEAC is home to 20+ artists in studios and this week we have planned a tour of several of these. Come along and meet the artists, tour their studios and talk to them about their work. NB: All visitors should meet at the main reception at 4.30pm for a welcome where the tour of studios will begin. THURSDAY 20 JANUARY: 4.30pm– 6pm Exhibition inside the Barrel Store onsite at Corban Estate Arts Centre. Enjoy an exhibition of the Summer School tutors current working practice, with floor talks and light refreshments. This will be an enjoyable, inspiring evening not to be missed! Say ‘thank you’ and ‘goodbye’ to those tutors who are completing 4 day workshops and for participants to come together. FRIDAY 21 JANUARY: Final day for 5 day courses. Classes run as usual (10am - 4.30pm)
