This workshop session is aimed at youngsters and adults, devoted to the magical world of invented, found and homemade musical instruments. Hosted by Phil Dadson (left) and Adrian Croucher (mid-right), of NZ’s legendary From Scratch group, the workshop will introduce a wide range of DIY instrument ideas for exploration and development.

Workshop #2:
Designed essentially for youngsters, participants will be guided through the making of one or more simple DIY instruments demonstrated in Workshop#1. They will also have the opportunity to play together as a group and take one or more completed instruments away with them.

The Corban Estate Arts Centre is located in Henderson, West Auckland.

We’re home to artist studios, our very own cafe, art classes for adults, youth and children, and an ever-changing programme of exhibitions and events.

Set within park-like grounds amongst historic winery buildings. Open Monday to Saturday, entry is free, everybody’s welcome.

My 9year old & I loved this practical, creative, musical workshop! We got to work together & both learn hands on making a variety of musical instruments...then take them home& have been enjoying them all night:) Favourites are the magical eerie sounding "Darrel Wind Wand" & Sky loves her "Balloon Bazoon". Phil was very generous with his time, patience& all the equipment necessary to make our instruments, as well as a few extras. Good size class& we both thought our orchestra was fun.....I was relieved not too challenging;). We really enjoyed our time. Thank you!

ADULTS, YOUTH AND CHILDREN’S CLASSES/WORKSHOPS ENROLMENT POLICY

  • A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking.
  • Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
  • Cancellation by participant up until 7 days before the workshop commences results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant within 7 days of the workshop commencement date results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 30% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given.

  • A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking. Part Payment options are available at time of booking.
  • Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
  • Cancellation by participant up until 10 days before the workshop commences results in a full refund of amount paid MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant within 10 days or on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given. You may nominate someone else to take your place before the class starts.
