Textiles - A Journey In Print Design with the wonderful Katie Smith is a well-rounded and inspiring workshop for textile enthusiasts to create their own unique fabric designs. Starting with drawing and looking at the work of other textile artists, you will then create your own special designs. Katie, who is well-known in her field and has a long history with Corbans, will guide you through a number of processes which include screen-printing, block printing and stenciling techniques onto cloth, with the aim of producing a meaningful textile work and perhaps even lead into your own further studies!

Katie Smith of Smitten Textile Print Design is smitten with colour, textures, fabric and ink. Katie graduated with an M.A. in Textile Art from Goldsmiths University of London in 1995 and prior to this studied textiles at Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin. From clothes to interiors to conceptual art, she has always been fascinated by the power of fabric to transform places, space and people.

The Corban Estate Arts Centre is located in Henderson, West Auckland.

We’re home to artist studios, our very own cafe, art classes for adults, youth and children, and an ever-changing programme of exhibitions and events.

Set within park-like grounds amongst historic winery buildings. Open Monday to Saturday, entry is free, everybody’s welcome.

The 5 day course in textile print design was a fabulous initial exposure to many elements and processes, giving us ample time to explore and consolidate learnings.

  • A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking.
  • Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
  • Cancellation by participant up until 7 days before the workshop commences results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant within 7 days of the workshop commencement date results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 30% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given.


SPECIAL ENROLMENT POLICY FOR GLASS CASTING WORKSHOPS

  • A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking. Part Payment options are available at time of booking.
  • Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
  • Cancellation by participant up until 10 days before the workshop commences results in a full refund of amount paid MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
  • Cancellation by participant within 10 days or on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given. You may nominate someone else to take your place before the class starts.
